Two members of the Rocky Mountain, Virginia Police Department have been arrested in connection with last week’s riots in the US Capitol.
One of the lawsuits filed by James Fracker and Thomas Robertson by federal officials is a charge of entering or staying in an unoccupied enclosed building or compound and of violence and misconduct on the Capitol premises.
The officers were out of work at the time.
Five people were killed during the riots, including a Capitol police officer who was injured in an exchange with Trump supporters.
The protests left lawmakers with limited coverage for several hours, disrupting the legitimacy of President Joe Biden’s election victory in November.
Justice Department reports that Franker and Robertson were photographed gesturing in front of the John Stark statue in the Capitol building. According to Dorj, Franker and Robertson have posted on social media about violence.
