Two Amers seniors have been selected for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program


AMHERST, NY (WIVB) – Two seniors at Amherst Central High School have been nominated. American Presidential Scholars Program.

Emma Klein – a second-place finisher in her 212th class, and Alexander Jurgenson – a vocational and technical education nominee for one of the most prestigious American high school students. Both are members of the National Honor Association.

Their appointments are the result of decisions for the New York State Department of Education. Students are assigned based on academic achievement, artistic excellence, essays, school reviews and essays, community service, leadership, and commitment to higher ideals.

Amherst Central Schools said it is the only district in Western New York to offer students this year, two of which are the only districts in the region. A total of 25 students were selected throughout the region.
