NEW YORK (AP) – The country’s next graduate poet is a 22-year-old veteran professor of ceremonies.
Amanda Gorman wrote everything from July 4 to the Boston Popes Orchestra to Harvard University to the graduation of Larry Bacon, the school’s president.
Gorman will read at the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris next Wednesday.
Traditions of respected poets such as Robert Frost and Maya Angelo continue.
Gorman says she was not given specific instructions on what to write for graduation, but she was encouraged to emphasize unity and hope.
